Be like a spring!!
The journey to success is a path of thorns. Most people tend to fall on the way. This is the reason being successful is a privilege which makes one different from the crowd. The most important thing required to scale the mountain of success is not the determination to achieve it, rather, it is the mental strength to face setbacks and failures. The latter is the most essential thing in my opinion because most of the aspirants start with a ton of determination, but give up eventually owing to failures. They give up because they think that by losing a small battle, they have lost the great war, the pursuit of their dream. But this is not true. The thing is that they do not have the mental strength to face failures. They are not ready to face failures. They just think that if they start their journey with vigour, energy and enthusiasm, they are sure to taste success. What they do not understand is that failing is a part and parcel of the journey.
The role of parents, teachers and mentors is very
significant in this case. They have this responsibility to instil some sense
and maturity into students at an early age. They need to teach the children how
to handle pressure; how to handle failures; and how to react when they do not
get results as expected. The absence of guidance in this aspect has led to the
growth of insecurity among students. They are now scared of getting failed.
Failure has become a taboo for students. The atmosphere of families has become
such that failing should find no place in a student’s academic record. They pay
no heed to the fact that failures are stepping stones to success. What happens
eventually is that the students get demotivated even after getting low marks on
their first exam. What they do not understand is that they need to analyse
their mistakes and need to implement those corrections in the next exams. These
may sound like basic things, but nowadays these are the issues which put
students’ life in jeopardy. An encounter with failure makes them feel worthless;
they doubt their potential and their capabilities. They feel helpless in their
situation. They do not understand, nay, no one makes them understand that
failure is an event, not a person.
This attitude of fearing failure continues for
their lifetime. They, not only in exams but in the walk of life, feel
demotivated and helpless when they do not get the anticipated result. This
often leads to them taking unnecessary steps which makes matters worse. What
they need to understand is that life does not work in this way. Escapism is not
a solution. One becomes successful when one faces his problems bravely, no
matter what the circumstances are. What the youth needs to understand is that
there may be 1001 reasons to give up, but with suitable willpower, a single
reason is enough to go through problems.
“Be
like a spring, the more the pressure the more you bounce back.”
